Sticky Beef and Broccoli

I LOVE Chinese food, but I always thought it would be too difficult to replicate at home - not so! This sticky beef and broccoli dish is quick, tasty and incredibly easy to make. A perfect family midweek meal.

INGREDIENTS:

- 500g beef steak strips
- 2 large onions
- 250g tenderstem broccoli
- sprinkle sesame seeds
- 6 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- pepper to taste
- oil for the pan
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1tbsp corn flour
- 100ml hot water

METHOD:

- Mix the sauce ingredients together (hot water, corn flour, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, brown sugar and soy sauce), until they form a well combined liquid and set aside.
- In a pan on high, heat a drizzle of oil. Add in the onions and saute until starting to brown.
- Add in the beef steak strips and stir until browning and cooked through.
- Add the tender stem broccoli, saute for 1 minute and then throw in the sauce
- Combine the ingredients together, put a lid on the pan and steam for 5 minutes or until the sauce becomes thick and the broccoli is cooked but still crisp.
- Serve alongside rice or noodles and sprinkle with sesame seeds for a beautiful garnish.
