Get to Know Me: Festive Edition

The wonderful Molly from Lovely Local Indie tagged me in this fun post and what a great way to get to know some bloggers and vloggers from around the UK! Here's a festive Get to Know me - I'd love to know what the answers to some of these questions are for you?!

What is your favourite winter treat?

Let's be honest, I'm a big fan of all the treats, but one treat I save just for Christmas has to be Bailey's. Any kind of alcoholic cream really. This year I found a praline version at the BBC Good Food Show and it's taking every ounce of self control I own not to crack that beauty open.

What Christmas traditions do you celebrate?

As many as we possibly can! We're a Christian family so Christmas is BIG here, so I like to make the most of it. We decorate a tree, deck the house out with lights, create advent calendars and go to as many festive events as possible! We love Christingle and carolling. We enjoy a Jesse Tree and advent. We do pretty much everything that's available during this season  - except that darn elf. He can do one.

Are you wishing for snow this year?

Normally I would say yes, but the last snow we had a couple of week's ago proved too much for my poor ankle and I'm left with a very broken one now! We love snow days here though and last year took a sledge out for a 10mile hike to find decent hills - probably the best memories from last year!

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Oh gosh, it's so cliche but I LOVE Love Actually. I think Nativity is a close second though - that movie is HILARIOUS.

*secret squirrels I have never watched It's a Wonderful Life. Don't shoot me.

Have you ever built a gingerbread house?

I am literally wetting myself writing this because every year we try and every year we fail. I make it part of my Christmas plans to build a beautiful, enviable gingerbread house, but inevitably it falls apart, gets knocked off the side or just refuses to stick all together! We tried again this year to no avail but it made for some very funny family time - you see watch it here on our latest vlog.

What is your favourite hot chocolate?

Don't judge me - I don't really like hot chocolate. I have one a couple of times a year (after a long walk or around Christmas time) just for the tradition of it, but it's not my drink of choice. However, at Christmas I buy some of those funky marshmallows shaped like snowmen or snowflakes and I pour myself one for the sake of the instagram picture. I just find the stuff too sweet and I'd much rather stick to coffee.

What gift are you hoping to get this year?

Diamonds. Always diamonds - but I've seen our bank account and I know that's not going to happen this year! We don't actually have a list, and have half agreed not to do presents amongst the adults this Christmas, but I'd quite like a jigsaw puzzle holder so that I have a hope of completing one before the kids take the pieces out! Or diamonds.

What is your warmest wintertime memory?

Every year I come away with life long memories but the first one that popped into my head was the first Christmas we spent at my in-laws. It was totally chaotic and my Mother in Law had gone all out, and then late in the evening Annie and Joel who were 3 and 2 at the time both fell asleep under the Christmas tree. I couldn't get a decent photo of it, but in a way that's made it even more special.

What about you?

I'd love to know your answers to these questions too! Are you a hot chocolate fan? Do you have any special memories? Are there any traditions that I've not mentioned that you take part in? Drop your answers in the comments and don't forget to check out Molly's blog on Lovely Local Indie too.

Until next time...
